500+ women and children freed after ruling; donations needed

500+ women and children recently freed from family prison camps in Texas are in need of donations after ruling.

Over the last few days, a reported 500 women and children who were wrongly imprisoned for seeking asylum were released in San Antonio after a ruling struck down the licensing of family prison camps as child care centers in Texas.

These families are in need of donations and there are several drop-off points as well as an Amazon wish list.

RAICES made the following announcement regarding the event:

“Families continued to be released yesterday and all signs are pointing to continued high numbers of releases. We still need your help!

We are currently at capacity with clothes and toys on site, but are accepting donations at our local representatives offices below.

….We are still need in-kind donations of children’s medications, coloring books, crayons, new child-size underwear, and hooded sweatshirts of all sizes. Donations can be dropped off at the following offices who have graciously opened their doors to us to collect donations for the families:

200 N. Park, San Antonio and 803 Castroville Rd, Suite 218, San Antonio

…We are also still in need of in-person volunteers. We mostly need Spanish speaking volunteers.
