When I arrived late last night only 3 mothers and their children were at the bus station 2 from Guatemala, one from Mexico, all released from Karnes. Both Guatemalans had shackles, the woman from Mexico did not have a shackle and had been released on her own recognizance and was traveling to Austin, Tx. I spoke with one Guatemalan woman who was indigenous and spoke very little Spanish. She was traveling on a 3 day bus trip to New Jersey to join her husband. She told me that she had been provided an instruction sheet about the shackles, and knew that a 3 hour charge would last for 12 hours. It was hard to communicate with her, she seemed very scared. But she was given some food for the trip, and a blanket.
