Temporary restraining orders issued against family prison camps

On Friday, a Texas State Judge granted a temporary restraining order preventing the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TFPS) from granting child care facility licenses to family prison camps in Dilley and Karnes City.

In August, federal judge Dolly Gee ruled that imprisoned children detained with their parents can’t remain imprisoned in facilities not licensed as child care facilities. The prisons quickly petitioned the state of Texas to receive child care facility licenses.
